Google Inc’s Android phone is all set to defeat all its competitors and become the King in the world of Smartphones. It has been a long while before it dethroned Nokia Symbian as leading smartphone software developer.
Unlike Apple or Nokia, Google does not make its own phone hardware, but instead offers its Android operating system free to other phone makers who can adapt it to suit their devices. As a result, Android has become the standard software for many phone makers. U.S. phone maker Motorola Mobility Inc has even managed to stage a comeback of sorts by focusing solely on Android after years of heavy market share losses. Infact only Nokia, Apple and Research in Motion Ltd has resisted using Android software.
This has turned out to be the root cause of Android’s popularity.
According to the very latest data from Nielsen, Android now commands a 29% market share of smartphone users in the US. While that isn’t even close to being a majority, it is a plurality that topples all of its competitors. Blackberry has fallen to 27% and Apple’s iOS remains flat at 27% and bringing up the read were Windows Phone 7 at 10%, Palm OS at 4%, and Nokia’s antiquated Symbian with 2%.
The biggest reason of android becoming highest selling phone is mentioned above and it is completely supported by the facts and figures. Google CEO Eric Schmidt told Reuters, the news agency that 20,000 Android sets are selling all over the world every day.

The top 5 android phones – –Motorola Droid, HTC Droid Incredible, HTC EVO 4G, HTC Hero, and HTC Droid Eris, have numerous carriers including Verizon wireless, AT&T, Sprint etc. the fact that they offer Buy one-get one and cut rate prices makes it all the more popular.
Google people have given Android owners the freedom to create their own Apps apart from the ones brilliantly designed by the Google engineers like Google Goggles, image recognition app.
Though iPhone has been cradling well in Apple’s garden, it still can’t match the name and trust that Google brings to Android OS. It is increasing becoming more user and function friendly than iPhone.
And so if you thought I was convincing you about Androids being better than any other smartphone OS, the several survey data to show this. The android handsets have been more popular with the young crowd, more so for its low end prices. Blackberry, has been popular with the Business people so it was not so much a part of the competition which ultimately boils down between Apple and Androids.
However, we like it or not Android smartphones are all set to seize the market and when so happens, you either get one or hold on to your Apple or RIM and defend it.
