Epson Ship 70 ml HTPS-TFT Panel For 3LCD Projector

 
Seiko Epson Corporation has just announced that it has shipped its 70 millionth HTPS TFT (high-temperature polysilicon, thin-film transistor) panel for 3LCD projection systems. Epson became the first mass-producer of HTPS TFT panels in June 2009 and has maintained its leading position as a supplier since then. HTPS panels boast of WUXGA resolution (1920x1200 pixels), thus effectively able to project true Full HD videos. HTPS TFT panels amount to a total of more than 23 million 3LCD projectors.

Speaking on the occasion, Senior General Manager, Sales & Marketing Epson India, Mr. Samba Moorthy said, "Epson is delighted to have reached this important milestone. Projectors using Epson's HTPS technology had been primarily in use for tasks such as business presentations, but they have recently expanded their base to applications such as home theatres for a cinema-like movie viewing experience, in education as a tool for supporting classes, and in commerce and other fields for projecting lectures, concerts and other events held in large auditoriums. The projector market is growing at a steady annual rate of 10%, which means that the demand for HTPS will also grow.
