Asus Tegra 3 Based Tablet PC Due this Year

Two other tablets would be introduced in the next three months

Asus jumped into the tablet scene with its Eee Pad Transformer tablet two months ago. Now, DigiTimes has reported that Asus plans to bring quad-core Nvidia Tegra 3 (T30) based tablets later this year.

In mid-February this year, we reported about Nvidia's ambitious Kal-El which might be branded as Tegra 3 (T30) which will comprise of quad-core ARM Cortex-A9 CPU and give five times the performance of Tegra 2. Asus will be launching Tegra 3 based tablets later this year. Apart from that, the company will introduce 10-inch Eee Pad Slider EP102 and 7-inch Eee Pad MeMo EP71 in the coming three months.

Asus has always been the pioneer for netbooks. Now the company is looking to compete seriously in the tablet segments as well. However, looking at the trends of giving hardware bumps to tablets, we really hope that actual usability of these devices increases as well. Increasing the processing and graphical power of the device backed up with sluggish interface won't necessarily attract consumers if such products are offered at exorbitant prices.

Eventually, we might end up having several tablet options available in the market with top notch hardware but non-mass appealing and sluggish software running over it. In a way, consumers are looking up to tablets to replace their netbooks or laptops for more mobility

Better and faster hardware is welcome only if it is promised to be backed up with duet of software and (cloud-based) services.
