4 Effective Mac Cleanup Tips

Agreed that a Mac machine performs better than a Windows based system, but yet it is not a faultless or perfect invention. In order to make sure that your Mac keeps running in an efficient manner, you ought to maintain it properly. If not properly maintained, sooner or later it is bound to slow down. However, good news is that it is not difficult to perform the maintenance of your Mac machine, and just some simple tips can keep your Mac running like a new machine, year after year.  Read on to find out.
1. Cleanup your Mac Desktop
Remove all the unnecessary files sitting there on your Mac desktop without any reason. You probably don’t know, but every time that Mac OS X loads, it indexes all the contents that are there on your desktop, creates a thumbnail icon for all of these and then catalog the contents of all the folders. The more stuff there is on desktop, the more time the process takes. Therefore, it is worthwhile to move all those files, which really don’t need to be there on desktop, to other relevant folders.
2. Get rid of unnecessary start-up applications
Did you ever notice that how on starting up your Mac, some applications load up automatically? To load up the processes which are there in start-up also takes up a lot of time. If there are lot of applications lying there in start-up, then they can greatly impact the performance and speed of your Mac. Thus, it is recommendable to remove all those applications from start up, which are not really needed to be loaded every time your Mac starts up.
3. Disable the dashboard
Disabling the dashboard is one very effective way to boost the performance of your Mac. The dashboard is definitely a great tool, but can also prove to be quite a botheration for those who hardly use it. The little clips and widgets that are there on the dashboard end up taking a lot of memory, and the result is a slow performing Mac.
Thus, if you think you don’t require to use dashboard that much, just disable it.
4. Turn off all those system options that are unnecessary
If you seldom or never get in need to use Speech Recognition, Bluetooth, Internet Sharing or Wireless, then go ahead and disable them. This action is going to help you with two things: first, it will speed up your Mac and second it will help you to save battery life.
